Battling Despair

When finally the shield of urgency, necessity, and duty lowered despair rushed to engulf the heart.

This despair must be fought against, beaten back, and never allowed to take hold.

Good memories and the knowledge that what has been done had to be done craft the weapons for this battle.

Hope for the future provides the armor.

Without this armor the strikes would surely penetrate and inevitably overcome.

And so the dual rages on only broken by short reprieves.

Time allies to fight and protect against the heinous adversary.

As the clock ticks despair grows weaker with every passing second.

The fight can be won but only with perseverance to the final moment standing victorious

For now the battle continues but no opening will be given, ever vigilant, guard up.

The fight continues and at the end only one side will stand.
